Japanese people use chopsticks when we eat food. We also use forks and spoons when we need to. Chopsticks are made of wood or plastic. I’ll explain how to use chopsticks. Don’t grab chopsticks. Hold one chopstick with your thumb and fourth finger and the other between your index finger and your middle finger, supported by your thumb. Moving the upper chopstick only with your index finger and middle finger, open the tips and pick up food.
Don’t stick your chopsticks upright into food. Don’t move the tips of your chopsticks through the food to search for what you want to eat. Don’t move your cups or dishes with the chopsticks. Don’t lick the tips of chopsticks. Don’t stir or search for food pieces in a cup of soup
